Former MOD Standard Gauge Trailer fitted with Weedkiller Spraying Equipment

Baguley - built trailer, history unknown at present

In mid - April, Andrew Briddon made The Rail Trolley Trust aware of this vehicle in an upcoming Ramco auction.

Two of the Trust’s flat trailer vehicles are on loan to Andrew at his 'Andrew Briddon Locos' Darley Dale base.

After discussions with Andrew, we decided to jointly bid for the vehicle, as we both agreed it was an interesting and useful vehicle.

With a budget agreed we watched the online auction on 23 rd April and put in, what turned out to be, a winning bid.

Andrew then arranged for GEO Siddall to collect the vehicle from Ramco’s site at Skegness and deliver it to his site at Darley Dale, where it arrived late on the afternoon of 30th April.

Andrew and his team will now work to put the Trailer into service including having the weedkiller spraying equipment checked and serviced by a local specialist company.

The Trailer currently carries the number 9015 which was originally allocated to a Wickham Type 27, but this is quite obviously not a Wickham. It is actually a Baguley - built trailer supplied to be used with the railcars that Baguley Drewry built, such as the privately owned AD9120, which is also based at Andrew’s site and is currently being worked on in the Geoffrey Briddon Building.

Help Needed

The Trust would obviously be interested to know the original identity and build date of the trailer. If anyone has any details, please contact the Trust.
