Lesmac (Fasteners) Ltd parts donation

Press Release: 7 March 2022

Lesmac Swift Trolley and Trailer

Further to our Press Release “Lesmac Swift” dated 24/1/22, the Trust was contacted by Lindsay McLelland from Lesmac Fastenings earlier this month (March 2022), who advised us that they had a quantity of Swift Trolley & Trailer spare parts, which they were looking to dispose of and asking whether we would be interested in them. We replied immediately advising that we would be more than happy to accept their generous offer and take them on.

Lindsay has now arranged for all the spare parts to be palletised and sent to our site at Tanat Valley Light Railway, near Oswestry in Shropshire, where they will be put in our storage container. These parts will be used in returning the Lesmac Swift 4 Seater Trolley (LMS013) & Trailer (LMT012), which were donated to us by the Strathspey Railway, to full working order. We will also be able to support the owners of LMS014 which is also based at TVLR.

The Trust will also put together a comprehensive list of these spares, which will be shared with all other heritage railways in the UK, which are home to Swift Trolleys & Trailers so that we can hopefully assist them, should they have any spare part requirements.

The Trust would like to thank Lesmac (Fasteners) Ltd for their very generous gesture and also Lindsay McLelland for organising the shipment to the Trust.

Notes to Editors

The Rail Trolley Trust (TRTT) aims to purchase, restore & demonstrate a collection of rail (construction & maintenance)trolleys and similar vehicles, as well as associated equipment and paperwork.

Please Help Us

The Trust has recently launched a public appeal, to raise £20,000 in order that we can:
  1. Complete the restorations of at least eight of our Trolleys and one of our vintage pumps this year
  2. Make the purchase & transport (as soon as possible) some suitable storage accommodation for some of our older and more historic vehicles, our industrial equipment & our spares
  3. Transport (in the next few months) various items which have been donated to the Trust, to one or other of our sites (at Chasewater & Tanat Valley railways).

Donations can be made by electronic Bank Transfer so that we do not pay any charges and to ensure that every penny of donations goes directly to the Trust.
