"Wicked Queen" Trials
Following the design & installation of the Servo Assisted Control mechanism, described here, it was time to put the new prototype nicknamed the "Wicked Queen" through a set of trials, to determine if all was well and the trolley performed the "jinking" runs for the Anti-Tank gunners, meeting the War Office's needs.
The image (right) shows the Prototype Target Trolley, Works No. 2522, (nicknamed Wicked Queen) currently stored at the Leighton Buzzard Railway.
The trials took place at Lydd Firing Ranges, Kent on 12 September 1939 and are recorded in the following document.
